2006 Peltier Station Teroldego Reserve
TASTING NOTES
Intriguing aromas of bright fruit, dried cherries and raspberry, velvety textures of rich brown spice and smoked almonds with a slight earthy undertone. Solid mid-pallet with well balanced yet ample tannin and acid structure, toned down by a layer of dates and a hint of dark chocolate.
VINEYARD
This vineyard was planted in 1992 in honor of our Italian heritage. Teroldego is a cousin of Syrah from the northern Trentino area in Italy. Our vines are located in the center of the Lodi Appellation on the east shoulder of the original “Peltier Train Station” where our winery sits. The cool evening San Francisco Delta breezes, warm sunny days combined with the Tokay sandy loam soil produce ultimate growing conditions.
WINEMAKING
All grapes were estate grown, mechanical harvested, de-stemmed and crushed. Fermentation: two days cold soak, NT116 on primary and Viniflora Oenos on secondary fermentation with limited hand pump-overs pressed at eight days.
PAIRING
The lively acidity and light tannins create a versatile wine to pair with many types of cuisine. It is sublime with savory dishes, hearty stews and flavorful sauces. All types of grilled meats including lamb, pork, beef and wild game are superb tablemates.
